A family moves into a house in the suburbs. Jacques, the adolescent son, speaks only French. Jimmy, the adolescent boy who lives in the house next door, speaks only English. There is an initial curiosity between the two from afar, but the language issue places an immediate strain between them. But the initial curiosity and interest in "little boy things" overcome the problems they have.
